Scott Mansfield, owner of The Dog Father hot dog carts, has taken part of Calgary Pride for the last five years. He is more than a vendor, he is a contributor and true ally to the gender and sexually diverse community.
Each year he registers as a vendor for pride in the park, while also feeding our volunteers over 250 meals, at no charge to us or them. More recently he also took it upon himself to feed all the attendees at a queer youth dance, and was eager to join us at the rally in support of GSA’s where he would only accept donations for the Skipping Stone Foundation.
When sitting down to chat with him and find out more about this jovial father figure, you are struck by his earnest nature. His desire to do anything that he can to support not just our organization, but also our community, is genuine and immediately apparent. When asked why, his response was that it was the friendliest and most welcoming group of people he had the pleasure of working with.
It is individuals such as Scott that perpetuate the very spirit of allyship, understanding that there is a greater cause and that we truly are better when we are “all together now”. Thank you, Scott, for you continued support!
