Rainbows and sparkles,

That’s what Calgarians can expect for Sunday’s 25-year anniversary Pride Parade, said Pride Calgary Planning Committee spokesperson Tansy Wong.

“It’s our biggest parade yet,” she said.

With more than 120 parade entries and an expected crowd of 60,000, this year’s Pride is sure to dazzle despite expected drizzle.

“Bring umbrellas, raincoats and dress for the weather — it’s Calgary, the weather changes so quickly,” said Wong.

The parade starts at noon on 9 Ave. at 1 St. S.E. and will head west towards Shaw Millennium Park where the party begins.

“Normally it ends at 6 p.m. but this year for the 25th anniversary we’ve extended it to 8 p.m.,” said Wong.

“So definitely plan to stay a little bit longer because we have headliners, DJ Citizen Jane from Miami is coming to play a set as well as Catey Shaw from New York.”

The family friendly event also has a kids zone.

“It’s going to be a lot of family fun with lots of rainbows and sparkles,” said Wong.
